Readiness Process
Determining readiness in potential Humans for the purposes of having permanency connections is a joint endeavor between the prospective Human and the Never Too Late (NTL) “coach” or guide.
While we do not complete formal assessments, evaluations or Home Studies, the Readiness Process is meant to provide opportunities for Humans and prospective Humans to learn as much as possible about what is involved in being a Human to a Lived Expert.
Humans use The Seven Core Issues Workbook for Parents of Traumatized Children and Teens by Allison Davis Maxon and Sharon Kaplan Roszia as a foundation for self-reflection. Additional resources and one-on-one meetings are provided by Never Too Late (NTL) “coaches” to debrief workbook findings and answer questions.
The Readiness Process is meant to:
increase the likelihood of permanency connections for Lived Experts being permanent (enduring, safe, unconditional)
prepare and support Humans wanting permanency relationships with Lived Experts to fully understand the nature of their commitment, and their role and responsibilities in that commitment
ensure that Humans understand themselves in relation to the Seven Core Issues and acknowledge that they are expected to do the work of creating connection, not the Lived Expert
