The Scar Runs through the Pupil is a short film exploring Amanda May’s childhood journey as a foster child through the education system . The film explores the theme of displacement, grief, emotional and physical wounds, and vulnerability. The pupils in this story are both the learner and the wounded eye. By deconstructing a mathematics textbook using techniques drawn from collage and visual arts, she conveys a powerful personal history.
